PBI has developed a purified Beta glucan extracted from the yeast cell walls Saccharomyces cerevisiae and contains greater than 70% pure yeast beta 1,3/1,6-D-Glucan as a feed ingredient for livestock.

B-glucans, essential components of yeast cell walls, have been shown to be useful feed ingredients for a wide range of livestock and aquatic animals.

Physical Properties

Appearance:

  • light brown tan powder
  • particle size: > 5µm and < 75µm
  • Solubility in Water: Insoluble.
  • Activity by Alternative Complement: >40 µg Bb released / mg yeast cell wall extract

Application:

The application and delivery of the purified yeast cell wall extract, or premix form requires no special handling or mixing and has been formulated to be homogeneous and free flowing.

It is compatible with most feed ingredients and feed additives normally used in the manufacture of feed stuffs, and can be used in liquid mash, powder or palletized format.

Safety

Yeast extract (Bakers) are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by the FDA.
PBI's purified yeast cell wall extract has proven safe in acute toxicity / LD50 testing and thus can be considered a non-toxic feed ingredient.
